Tim and Lise Cartledge
Raised on Menalpyn (home of Lancaster Simmentals), Tim has always been happiest working on the farm. After Boarding school in Adelaide and studying at Roseworthy Agricultural College, Tim gained his Diploma in Agriculture and returned to Menalpyn.
An Ag exchange to Minnesota, USA in 1976 introduced him to Lise. In 1979 she left the family rose growing business in Finland, to join him on the farm. They have continued to work alongside each other (mostly) peacefully since, raising their three children Erica, Henry and Bjorn.
Tim has been an active member of the ARLP (Australian Rural Leadership Program), Local Council and the South Australian Farmers Federation.
Henry and Prue Cartledge
Henry was born in Meningie and brought home to the farm just days old. Even as a child, all he wanted to do, was go out to work with Dad. After finishing school, Henry spent a year on exchange to Bedford, England and whilst travelling, did a stint at the Finnish side of the family’s rose business.
When he returned to Australia, Henry completed a degree of Economics at the University of Adelaide, during which time he met Prue, an opera singer by trade! Henry knew that he wanted to get back to farming, so in 2005 he returned to the farm, bringing Prue to try something new!
In 2009, they welcomed twins Harry and Elizabeth and more recently, Duncan. With a shared love for animals, the whole family looks forward to calving; the kids love spotting new calves, while Mum and Dad check out the results of the previous year’s mating debates!
